The Mississippi State University’s website is the first impression of the institution to many visitors and prospective students. Our visitors include – but are not limited to – prospective students, current students, parents of those students, faculty, researchers, staff, alumni, community members, and local and state officials. The website needed to be updated to appeal to a wide range of visitors. It was also non-responsive and did not function well on mobile devices. With over 20% of our visitors to msstate.edu viewing the site on their mobile devices, it was determined a much more usable interface was needed for both desktop and mobile. Worked closely with the Office of Information and Technology Services – including Jason Tiffin, Andy Lewis, Quan Chung and Kevin Anderson – in order to implement this redesign for the main university’s website in 2015.
